This project was the result of my first three-week project for my User Centered Design Studio subject. The brief was to "Design a product or service which aids in cleaning a tram, train, or plane."
While many teams' approaches focused on refining cleaning tools, our research identified systemic issues related to staffing and operational efficiency.
Our concept combines a system of mobile tram-cleaning units with a real-time reporting app. Passengers can report cleanliness concerns via the app, which then prioritizes cleaning tasks based on urgency. Leveraging the existing public transit infrastructure, our mobile teams efficiently navigate the city, cleaning as they move to promptly address cleanliness needs.
In addition to our systems solution, recognizing the challenge of mobility now faced by cleaning teams across the city, we developed a practical hardware component. The design facilitates the movement of equipment, supplies and water throughout the network withx minimal hassle.
To incentivize passenger engagement and ensure accurate reporting, the app rewards users with fare credits or discounts at select businesses upon verification that the issue has been addressed.
